Summer symposium for Graduate Students in International Affairs

Women In International Security (WIIS) is pleased to announce that
applications are now available for its 17th annual Summer Symposium for
Graduate Students in International Affairs:

"Security and Identity in a Globalized World"
June 8-13, 2006

OVERVIEW: The WIIS Summer Symposium is an intensive six-day program in
Washington, DC, encompassing seminars on security issues with leading
policy experts, career development workshops, a crisis simulation,
student research presentations, and unique networking opportunities.
Past Symposium participants comprise an active network of women leaders
around the world. The 2006 Symposium will focus on the critical
interaction of security and identity in a number of global arenas:
regional conflicts and identity politics in Asia, the Middle East and
Africa; the role of science and technology in dealing with transnational
challenges such as infectious diseases and cyber-security; alternative
approaches to human rights and democracy in a plural world; and
globalization and domestic legitimacy issues.

ELIGIBILITY: This program is open to graduate students currently
enrolled in a master's or doctoral degree program in international
relations, political science, history, security studies, public policy,
conflict resolution, law, relevant sciences, or other fields related to
international affairs. Both women and men may apply.
